Smart BioMaterials Consortium member Preimure announces the development of an Ultra-tunable and Bio-stable Antibacterial Coating (UBAC) to prevent or treat implant-related infections. In order to bring the UBAC to the market, it has to be tested on an implant under a comprehensive quality management system followed by in vitro, in vivo validation, clinical trial and CE marking.

In this project, a market feasibility study and biocompatibility analysis for use of UBAC to prevent PTI will be done. Particularly, PTI socioeconomic burden as well as the market size and dynamic of UBAC will be investigated via a third-party consultant. As per biocompatibility analysis, the cytotoxicity of materials and medicinal substances used in UBAC will be reviewed and a gap analysis respect to ISO 10933 will be executed.
